Our Harvest Celebration

Picture
Each of our church organisations were offered a chance to decorate a part of the church - see the gallery below to see how they did it!

Well done everyone - the church looks beautiful!

Our Creative Writing Group collaborated to write a poem about God's Gifts  this is how it came about -

Everyone was asked to think of thanking God for His gifts in terms of the 5 senses (sight, sound, smell, touch and taste) and also in terms of wearing something and saying something. We threw our ideas around and came up with the outline of the poem. We discussed it, worked on it and the result was on display in the church. It was all very collaborative and very satisfying. Seven women all in agreement - how about that!

His Gifts.

It’s the sight of loved ones when I
                   open the door,

It’s the sound of a bold brass band.
It’s the smell of roast chestnuts
                   at a friend’s fireside,
And the warmth of that friend’s hand.

It’s the touch of bluebells as they
                                   trill through my fingers
And the feel of a handful of wheat.
It’s the taste of sea-salt on my lips,
                   the sunshine when we meet.

It’s the smile on my face when I Iook
                   in the glass
And I see that it actually fits.
                    It says,
“Thank-you, Lord, for these,
          And all your gifts.”
