Lent originally began as a time for people to be prepared for the Sacraments of Christian Initiation at Easter, when they were plunged into the waters of baptism, dying and rising with Christ and sharing in the paschal food at the Lord’s table.

And yes, like many ‘church’ things this period of preparation has a name - it’s called the Catechumenate. The person receiving instruction is called a Catechumen. The teacher a catechist. Got your tongue around those words?! Time to move on…! During Lent in the parish, this will be happening in a number of ways.

Every Tuesday
tea & Coffee served 6.45pm
Session 7.00– 8.00pm    Starting 19th Feb

OUR THEME
There are six sessions. They explore the theme: “Small is beautiful.”

Week 1 - Yeast, salt, light – small can be effective!
Week 2 - Hospitality – how we treat the stranger
Week 3 - Sympathy – at one with others
Week 4 - When one is enough – giving and receiving love
Week 5 - Where one or two are gathered – prayer worship and faith
Week 6 - The lesson of the Cross – God’s love is shown forth in weakness

During Lent we will be undertaking a series of sessions which has been put together by our Diocese- it looks at comparing our day to day lives with those who belong to the Church in Bangladesh. Each week can be followed on its own or as part of the series - anyone would be welcome to join us to  find out more about the similarities and the differences between our lives, and what we can learn from each other.

What is the Spirit of God saying to our Church?

WHO IS IT DESIGNED FOR?
For everyone-the theme will be introduced in various ways.-with Scripture, music and sometimes visual presentations.
Easy to follow but also stimulating!
